Millions earned from treasure hunt is the “biggest scam”

Last week, Joko and Klaas took advantage of the airtime they had won to start a spectacular treasure hunt: each day the two presented a puzzle whose solution revealed part of the coordinates. The big solution came on Tuesday: viewer Tobias found the suitcase with the money in Saxony and quickly traveled with Joko to Berlin, where Klaas was already waiting for him on “Late Night Berlin.”

The grand finale had a major twist in store, as Tobias didn’t solve the puzzle alone. Rather, he picked up clues from a Twitch star’s streams. This is now seen very differently on social media.

Millionaire profit thanks to Papaplatte

Streamer Papaplatte also followed the treasure hunt and can currently be seen on “7 vs. “Wild.” Along with his community, he performed detective work in their streams. In the end, Tobias benefited, who, along with Joko, openly admitted that the unexpected money was mainly due to Papaplatte.

From day one, Papaplatte got behind the big mystery and on Tuesday night he even joined “Late Night Berlin.” His reaction is clear: he is happy for Tobias and is extremely proud that one of his fans made it.

The fact that a powerful streamer dedicated himself to treasure hunting was criticized from the beginning. With tens of thousands of people helping out on the live stream, solving the puzzles is simply too easy, people complained repeatedly in the chat.

For them they lost all the appeal of the action. Additionally, it increased the likelihood that the million would end up in the hands of a person who had little or no personal involvement in the puzzles.

So Tobias basically received the money as a gift; at least that’s one interpretation of the story now. For example, on X (formerly Twitter) a user writes: “Because someone got a million from a streamer that would have otherwise been given to someone who could figure it out themselves.” In other places you can even read:

“The biggest fraud in the history of television.”

The millionaire winner was twice as lucky

There is another factor that worries this user: Tobías only lives ten minutes from where the suitcase with money was, so he had it easy both ways.

Anyone who had the solution ready but had to travel from the south or west was generally at a disadvantage. “Other German participants with long distances had no chance of finishing faster than him,” says X.

But many others do not see it so closely and celebrate Tobias. For example, one user believes that some people are simply jealous. “We live in 2023, the Internet will always be ten steps ahead of viewers. Cry (…) into your pillow and keep showing your true colors when it comes to things like this“, can be read on social networks. Another fan expresses himself diplomatically:

“Yes, it would have been better if someone had figured it out themselves. But I still think it’s crazy when tens of thousands of people gather together and someone is lucky enough to find the suitcase.”

One thing is for sure: Papaplatte is proud of his community and Joko and Klaas are also happy for Tobias. It was probably clear from the beginning that luck would end up playing an important role.

The trial against Gil Ofarim has dominated public interest for about a week. On the third day of the trial, many things happened around the musician’s negotiations. The 41-year-old will face accusations of defamation, false suspicions and false affidavits before the Leipzig regional court.
