One of the most popular innovations of the upcoming WoW expansion The War Within is clearly the war pack system. This is clearly aimed at all players who level up more than one hero and have multiple “Alts” (alternate characters) on their account. We’ve summarized information from Blizzard, BlizzCon 2023, and interviews so you can find out: What are warbands in WoW?

WoW The War Within: Warbands
Veteran players know the problem in WoW (buy now ): Through many expansions, balance adjustments, and quirks, people have always wanted to lead other adventurers across Azeroth, but the main character has always taken center stage. After all, for example, he has a few Exalted reputations under his belt, more progress in some roles (Did someone say Torghast?), and access to most resources. While you could often send the latter to other characters on the account via mail, it was always unnecessarily annoying. The developers saw this too. War packs are supposed to solve this problem, bringing a cool visual innovation: you can place four heroes of your account together as a party of adventurers in character select:

In WoW Patch 11.0, you will be connected to a warband with all the characters on your account, regardless of their faction. Share unlocked flight paths from flight mastersOn top of that, your heroes have access to one account-wide warband bankwhich makes it easier for you to get all the gold, if you want even shares reagent compartments. This means you can use all the mats on your account when creating. Special activities will also share progress: leveling up your NPC companion in the Depths, the new instance type in The War Within, is one of them.
You’ll also share Patch 11.0’s new fame levels and reputations with all characters. – but this does not initially apply to previous extensions. The developers have explained that it is an ongoing project and that they are working on it little by little. Consequently, Dragonflight fame levels should also be extended to the entire account as soon as possible after the release of The War Within. As will be the case with successes and many titles:
Many more achievements and titles will be unlocked across your WoW account in the future. Internal war and Kriegsmeute make this possible.

Coins will also be available to all characters in a raid, but you will have to give some away when transferring or using them for another character. Losses on currency transfers persist, but the cumbersome shipping of currency packages from different retailers to specific alternatives is no longer necessary.
New equipment type: “Warbound”
Another advantage is the possibility of obtaining special equipment. This is “Warbound”, a new variant along with Account Bound and Soul Bound that you cannot trade with other players. You can share such equipment with other characters on the account through your raid bank; If they use the weapons, trinkets, and armor pieces, they will become soulbound as usual. These pieces of equipment will never be at the same item level as those obtained by a character, but they can still serve as powerful recovery equipment, allowing you to adopt an alternative to endgame content more quickly.
If your character equips Warbound gear, it becomes soulbound in the classic way.

War Pack Change Also Pleases Transmog Fans
Along with the other war perk pack, you will also be able to get different transmog templates in WoW much more easily starting with patch 11.0. Because you collect skins of all kinds with all the characters. So, you can, for example, go through ancient raids with a warrior and collect elegant transfiguration sets for hunters, sorcerers, magicians, villains, etc.. The type of armor and weapons a hero can carry are no longer important.
In general, the developers’ goal is to comfortably and flexibly link individual account characters to war packs, not to give more player power to your main character or even convey the urgency of having to have multiple characters. So now you don’t have to worry about needing more heroes. There should be fewer downsides to being a fan of alternatives.
